It's not just against Djokovic. Federer has been the GOAT of blowing break points and match points for the last several years now. It's really not anything new.

I wrote this in the Nishikori thread and warned Fed fans and it turned out to be right.

I've seen the guy blow a myriad of big points throughout his career. He's gotten away with it because he simply creates a ton of them often enough. If things get tight in a big 3 encounter, Fed will crack as usual if it goes late into a set.

Federer left it all on the court. He broke back in the fifth let's not forget amongst the lamentations of his failure to serve it out. Yes with two championship points he should have closed it out but as I said before the margins that Federer needed to execute to win this were a lot slimmer than Djokovic's.

Having said that, that may be his last chance at winning Wimbledon and indeed any other slam. If it is at least it was a classic in terms of drama if not quality.

Sure. This one hurts. If Federer keeps playing he'll get over it though. That's what Federer does. He just keeps playing and winning a large majority of his matches.

I’ve always said if Federer had Djokovic or nadals mentsl strength he would have multiple more majors

the tiebreak worked but I feel it wasnt the best for the match. I think Novak would have won either way... as any 5 setter favors the younger player. Question is can we have some younger players break through? Its gotten a little silly how it hasnt happened.

I hated the tie break, and not just because Djokovic won it. That was a really disappointing way to end the match, it should at least go to 10.

That was a great match! I couldn't wish for any more. I think the 12-12 tiebreak is fine because the sun starts to set, and you wait any longer the tennis quality gets worse, and the trophy ceremony is less picturesque because the sun is gone.
