Roger should have closed it while serving for the match, no excuses for him. Plus, he couldn't manage to win at least one tie-break, Novak mentally stronger and that's it. A bit disappointing for a Fed fan as those breakers were so predictable, but anyhow...kudos to Novak for staying there.

i dont know what to say. i'm exhausted, mentally, physically. right now feel like i never want to watch tennis ever again.
the biggest win of Novak's career, it's never gonna get better than this. And the worst loss of Roger's, you can't possibly think about a worse, tougher loss than this. I thought it's impossible to overwrite Roddick W '09 loss, today it happened.

Congratulations to Novak Djokovic, he will likely retire having the most important records. If so, he will deserve it. Federer had his chances, he couldn't convert them, could have stopped Novak 4 times but he didn't. Yes, he's old but he was there, had chances. So at this point just as they say, no excuses.

Terrific and epic match. But damn a true heart breaker for any Fed fans. I was on the edge of my seat when Fed had those 2 MP. I was suspecting that if it got to the TB, Novak would have the edge as he did in the previous sets.

Wibledon Robbed Federer in 2 ways............... 1st changing the 5th set to tiebreaker... and also by using 7 point tiebreaker instead of 10 point. in 7 point tiebreaker, lucky dude can win.... In 10 point tiebreaker,, almost never.

Djokovic wins!
I was texting back and forth with a close friend. He was pulling for Novak, I was of course pulling for Fed. We BOTH talked about having a near heart attack and needing BP meds. I think this was easily one of the best finals ever, and you really have to have the emotional maturity of a 12 year old to begrudge the winner. A heartbreaker for the loser, of course. I always remember BJK saying that all champions choke, but the one who chokes a bit less wins. Lots of clutch and choking on each side. We can all say we saw this match and saw the first final go to a 5th set TB at Wimbledon.

Totally epic match!

Crazy victory by Djokovic. It all felt like it was Feds day for glory but Djokovic time and time again flips the script.

Its really painful for Federer. But can someone refresh my memory on the two MPs? One great passing shot and how was the 2nd match point saved?

It is indeed his toughest loss, but luckily Federer is in a better place than his other toughest loss, which to me was AO 2009. He has a wonderful family, plays brilliantly even when most players would have retired years ago, he'll be OK.

Federer left it all on the court. He broke back in the fifth let's not forget amongst the lamentations of his failure to serve it out. Yes with two championship points he should have closed it out but as I said before the margins that Federer needed to execute to win this were a lot slimmer than Djokovic's.

Having said that, that may be his last chance at winning Wimbledon and indeed any other slam. If it is at least it was a classic in terms of drama if not quality.
I've heard this since 2014 especially when Fed lost a tight final. People keep saying this yet he's still giving himself legit shot to win more slams and even did so.

Wow, Djokovic seems very somber in his interview. Especially talking about how his being a player depends on support from his wife and family and finding a balance.

Something definitely isn't right at home. And he still won this match. I just realized... his wife wasn't in his box, either. That's probably a part of why he was so glum during the match, too.

Wasn't his toughest loss Wimby 08?

Or was it Wimby 14? Or 15?

Or USO 15?

Congrats to Djokovic. A beast of a player.

If that was Roger´s last stand in his fight for Goatness against Djkovic, what a helluva fight it was. At 37 no less. Proud to be a fan if his.

And for all of you Federer fans jumping the boat now, feck off. If Federer had your mentality, he wouldn´t even be in the top 100, let alone making slam finals and pushing one of the best players ever to the limit. Don´t ever again pretend to be happy for Federer. You don´t deserve it.

I could cry right now. Lord have mercy. This match just took 10 years off my life. I had resorted to a loss but this guy's heart is massive. What a fight.

Federer, you are brilliant. It sucks to lose from two championship points but the level you played today is beyond words. You are unbelievable.

I don’t think this loss really hurts his legacy. The guy is 38 years old, played a 5 hours match and got MPs against the world number one. That’s insane. Federer is still the grass GOAT.

I don't see how you can call yourself the grass GOAT when you have lost three finals to one of your rivals. Especially not when blowing championship points. Especially when losing one in three tiebreaks.

Federer has certainly won more Wimbledons (at least so far), but it seems a bit strange to say he's the grass GOAT when he can't beat one of his rivals. It kind of contradicts the whole "GOAT" thing.

Yeah, that's exactly what Wimbledon does: rob Federer.
They couldn't try any harder to make him win and still remain within the rules.
