Djokovic didn't drop a set last year in Dubai but I think he'll drop at least a set to Federer today.
Federer needs to come out and serve well from the start, if he gets broken early, that's pretty much set gone.

I picked Federer in 3 tight sets. Trying to be optimistic here. Haven't seen Novak play so far in Dubai, but that walkover might play against him in the 1st set, which is where Federer needs to come out strong.
Not super convinced about the Federer serve so far, some games he's holding down to love in a minute, the other one he's down 2 break points and loses his serve (vs Stepanek). If he's serving well, he'll win this game.

I would like to see Fed win, but don't see it happening.

My mistake. TennisDatenbank, for some reason, has the head to head listed at 15-15. Apparently it's still 16-15. Dark Knight might have to wait a month or so.

I haven't seen Djokovic play yet, but going by the results he's been posting, he's playing really well.
I only saw the Rosol match which Federer won easily, but mostly because of Rosol giving it away. Federer struggled against Stepanek as well.
With all this, I have to go for a Djokovic win, but I believe Federer has a chance here. First set is a must-win for him though.

The fact it scaped the net to get over? Yeah i guess that part was lucky but Djokovic was at the back of the court anticipating either a powerful FH or BH from Federer (who had the whole court open to him) he picks a dropshot and not only does Djokovic get there, he managed to get it back and force Federer into a difficult shot and he got back to the baseline and outplayed him to win the point.
And as i type this, Djokovic breaks..

tbh, fed was playing better against rafa at the AO than he is against djoker this tournament.
Fed just not as good on fast court anymore.
