True. Cilic would have put up a bigger fight, and maybe won a set or tow.
Nishi will be straight-setted or will retire in set 3, be bagelled or 6-1 or something like that. I'm sure.

Right. I have quite the suspicion that some of his fans ITT are actually Djokovic fans. And to them I do congratulate because this guy will be minced meat in the semi, like he would have been today if Cilic had half a brain between his ears.

Are you serious? That is only true if he plays Millman.
Djokovic is definitely the favorite. However, you know that he loses matches at the USO that everyone expected him to win. He lost against Kei, Murray, Stan and Nadal when he was the favorite in all of those matches right in the middle of his prime.

Therefore, Kei definitely has a chance to beat him again. Especially as Novak is more prone to lapses these days as compared to 2015. I like Novak as well so I won't mind who wins. I will root for Kei more as I would love to see him win a slam.

Exactly. That is why I don't like Cilic. I mean for all his talent, the stuff between his ears is seriously lacking. He is so WEAK in the mental department. Like this match against Kei, Cilic should have never lost. But some ridiculous errors and chokes.

nishi will probably take a set vs djoko and lose.
Cilic would've had a better puncher's chance IMO.

After four hours, the guy with the least physicality among the elite players, coming back from a long layover to boot? Nah.

Kei has the best open era record for five set matches.
Kei can beat Novak in next round but he will need his forehand to do it. his best shot backhand alone won't be enough. One thing I noticed was Since he switched to that Luxilon Element string, he is having trouble controlling his forehand with so much power in that string...

Dude was in control and donated a rebreak out of nowhere in the second........so yeah, brain = lacking.

Why do you derate Kei's chance? He defeated Djokovic in USO14 semifinal.
Are you serious? Do you guys use HOPE as a strategy?
If you were making a decision, would you base it out of hope (or what you want should happen) than out of probability and rationality?

Kei beat Novak once in 2011 and once in 2014. He hasn't beaten Novak in 4 years and 10 matches.]
The head 2 head is 2-14.

Does lightning fall twice? If you were betting for your life, who would you bet on?

Why do they keep saying Nishikori's reached his first GS semifinal since reaching the final in 2014? Have they completely forgotten he got to the semis in 2016? o_O
ESPN don't care about no facts and history

Of course Djokovic fans are so happy to avoid Cilic (the only top 10 in his draw).

Cilic is 2-15 vs Novak and has never beaten him at a slam , Especially not after a 4 hour match at 30 years old

Nishi's BH to Cilic's BH was the difference.
Was surprised Cilic barely got any free serve points toward the end

LOL in the real world, if Nishi by some special wizardry managed to reach final, he would retire/collapse from overexertion in final. I'd bet money on that.
And God forbid.
Let's go Novak ;)

he had 2 tough 5-setters (Raonic and Wawrinka) before he beat Djoko in USO 14.

this has been his only tough match here so far.

Nishi's problem ain't exhaustion per se, its more injuries/being susceptible to them.

Did Kei ever beat Novak at a slam at 30 years of age after a 4 hour match in the preceding round?

Please, Nishikori will be a w/o barring aneurysm on Djokovic's end. And you know it.
