Time to go rest up for the Night session.
Congrats to Nishikori, Osaka and Japanese fans.

Niki has better stamina than Cilic, If Cilic would’ve won he would’ve given a Djokovic a fight for one set and a half maybe two sets , Niki Can probably still hold another 5 setterDid Kei ever beat Novak at a slam at 30 years of age after a 4 hour match in the preceding round?
Please, Nishikori will be a w/o barring aneurysm on Djokovic's end. And you know it.
Not a big fan of JC I take it?![]()
Exhaustion, injury, whatever. Same outcome.he had 2 tough 5-setters (Raonic and Wawrinka) before he beat Djoko in USO 14.
this has been his only tough match here so far.
Nishi's problem ain't exhaustion per se, its more injuries/being susceptible to them.

Inb4 USO 14 repeat
Maybe, but everything he's just said about the younger generation was absolutely spot on.meh he's ok
between him and mac, i'm more on mac's side
neither of them are nice people though
Spectacular match. So happy to see Kei doing well. Wish he could win the whole thing.

Let’s see if Millman pushes Djokovic it will be better for Kei , It will be come down to Kei’s fitnessKei will be out in 3 sets barring a spontaneous mass collapse from Novak (which won't happen). Bet on it.
Exactly. That is why I don't like Cilic. I mean for all his talent, the stuff between his ears is seriously lacking. He is so WEAK in the mental department. Like this match against Kei, Cilic should have never lost. But some ridiculous errors and chokes.
Right. I have quite the suspicion that some of his fans ITT are actually Djokovic fans. And to them I do congratulate because this guy will be minced meat in the semi, like he would have been today if Cilic had half a brain between his ears.
I am not saying Kei will likely defeat Djokovic in the semifinal (assume Djokovic will win tonight), but you apparently underestimate his chance. Cilic is a mental midget, never defeating an ATG player convincingly in slams, but Kei is not. Not to mention he once upset Djokovic in USO.Are you serious? Do you guys use HOPE as a strategy?
If you were making a decision, would you base it out of hope (or what you want should happen) than out of probability and rationality?
Kei beat Novak once in 2011 and once in 2014. He hasn't beaten Novak in 4 years and 10 matches.]
The head 2 head is 2-14.
Does lightning fall twice? If you were betting for your life, who would you bet on?
At 62 42 he just lost it - the UEs just started pouring out. I quit after the 3rd set off the DVR - pathetic. He couldn’t get 80-something mph 2nd serves in play.As a fan of Cilic, this is soooo frustrating!
He can play beautifully, ate Nishikori alive, but this happen all the time.
So it was Cilic going cold? I haven't seen any of it.At 62 42 he just lost it - the UEs just started pouring out. I quit after the 3rd set off the DVR - pathetic. He couldn’t get 80-something mph 2nd serves in play.
Happy for Nishikori - great comeback from his injury and a major SF - even if he does get pummeled by Djokovic is still a great result. But that’s an early Xmas present.

I figured Kei would take a set. They've always had a close rivalry. Didn't think Kei would win this though. @Sabratha right again about Cilic I suppose.West Coast Ace summarized it well, I promise. I made the mistake of watching.
That's just one win out of his many tries, including multiple close matches he lost eventually. This is why I label him as a mental midget. His win over Federer at 2014 US Open was pretty convincing.

I'd love to see it.Kei can beat Novak in next round but he will need his forehand to do it. his best shot backhand alone won't be enough. One thing I noticed was Since he switched to that Luxilon Element string, he is having trouble controlling his forehand with so much power in that string...
close match but nothing compared to the opportunity that khachanov and thiem missed
i think their losses were way worse than cilic today
but seriously, i don't understand what the problem with cilic actually is
is he just a serial choker with terrible nerves/anxiety?
why not hire a crew of sports psychologists, therapists or whatever will help him get his mentality sorted
This guy's in front of Cilic in that line to see the sports shrink.but seriously, i don't understand what the problem with cilic actually is

I’m still in shock - and disgust (picked Cilic in the Tennis Channel Racquet Bracket, trying to win figuring the big 3 would get 95% of the votes - and was starting to believe).Oh I called it too. But I am still amazed at how it went down. Up a set, up a break, and just begins raining UEs utterly unprovoked. Unreal.
Djoker has a better bilance in five sets matches than Kei, Kei has a bilance of 18-6, which is 75% success, while Ultron 29-9, which is 76.31%.Kei has the best open era record for five set matches.![]()
Yes chili man is a mental midget kind of like ka dy
