Sadly, Med is gonna win in 4 sets :(

I would prefer another AO for Rafa that being the man with most GS ever. I don't care if Novak wins 23 if Rafa finishes with 21 and Double Career Grand Slam.

to be frank it's been a joke of a draw for nadal here, (it's a great achievement for him already to be in a final), based only on that fact med deserves more to win the title, his road was tougher

Mannarino tougher than 'insert whatever name' laughable statement. Big 3 might as well play against a club player.

Berretini is so much worse than Berdy that his peak level likely isn't much higher than Berdy 2017.
And certainly tons worse than reigning USO champion Wawrinka.

Something pretty big on the line here for both.

Nadal:
- First man to reach 21 Slam titles (and break the deadlock)
- Second man in the Open Era to complete the Double Career Slam
- One of the oldest AO winners (35 years, 7 months)
- 13 year gap between Slam titles at the same venue

Medvedev
- First man ever to win his first 2 Slam titles consecutively
- Second man to beat Djokovic / Nadal in consecutive Slam finals

God knows why, but I'll pick Nadal in 5.

Maybe he starts out strong, nabs the first set. Goes up a break in set 2 before getting pegged back by Med. Then they continue to trade sets, with some mini choking, before he comes from a break down in the fifth to win.

Complete blind bet. I have only seen 1 match of Nadal this tournament since he plays during the day Aussie time.

Mischa Zverev, dude. That draw was honestly mediocre to worse. And both Nadal and Federer's form in that tournament are way overrated. Nadal barely scraped by against baby Sascha, and Dimitrov, and then almost won the title anyway.

what a load of cr*p

fed beat berdych, nishi, wawa AND nadal
focussing on berdych and M Zverev shows your BS.

Mannarino and Berrettini is tougher than M.Zverev and Berdy in 2017 lol

lol. berdych was better than both. M Zverev actually took out Murray and most certainly better than frickin mannarino.

This is why I had put you on ignore. Utterly hopelessly shameless BS propaganda. Had to unignore you since you created one of the match threads. But back into ignore you will go soon.

Just noticed this thread as well.
Like the wallpapers in the OP too

To repeat what I said in the other thread, I must be mad but I will pick Nadal in 5, despite only having been able to watch 1 of his 6 matches.
Maybe a bit of choking in the middle, may have to come from a break down in the fifth

I really don't care, please keep me on ignore so that I don't have to see you replying to me again lol. There is nothing remotely impressive about the draw. Berdych, Nishikori and Wawrinka are all complete personal big three pigeons with the exception of Stan-Djokovic. And Nadal wasn't in good form AT ALL.

Mischa Zverev QF :-D

Mischa Zverev QF

Berdych actually beat fed twice 2x in slams.
Wawa was playing at prime level at his favorite slam AO. you know the same wawa that thrashed the living daylights outta your boy Nadal in AO 14 :-D :-D

nadal was in more than good form in AO 17. certainly significantly better than now.
played a pretty good final. very good QF vs Raonic to beat him in straights. a very good semi to edge out dimi.
If this were current rafa, dimi would've beaten him in 4 sets tops, lol.

Mischa Zverev beat Murray to get to the QF. But keep going on to expose yourself more. :-D :-D :-D :-D

I guess we talk to the mods somehow? No idea really. But I know it's been done before.

Considering the significance of this match, let's share the spoils. It's only fair.
Sounds fair. I guess I report my thread with annotation: "Please merge my thread with @mike danny ’s "Australian Open 2022 Final: Rafael Nadal vs Daniil Medvedev", if it’s possible"

And you try the same, but mentioning me. Yes, no?

It's so cute how you think that because Federer struggled through so many matches, that it was a tough draw 8-B

In any other universe, I would pick Nadal to win. But after Medvedev, against the crowd, and under huge pressure, won his first slam by beating Djokovic on hardcourt when Djokovic was going for the CYGS... that changes everything. I think the dominion of Medvedev has arrived.

Medvedev in 4.

As Medvedev said, "this is boring." Lots of great matches leading to this point, only to end, once again, with what was obvious to all of us at the beginning of the tournament. Ho hum, I guess I will just keep hoping for some new pattern to emerge. I do think Medvedev will continue to be the gatekeeper to 21, though.

for a 35.5 year old guy, it was a tough draw.
its cute how you can't actually address the points mentioned there.
:-D :-D :-D :-D

also how utterly shameless are you to say this after nadal getting cakewalk after cakewalk draws to the final at the USO and at this particular AO as well.

imagine if AO 17 fed met this AO 22 nadal (similar ages). fed'd make it a bloodbath. AO 17 nadal was actually playing good (though past his prime) unlike now.

oh and just in case you forgot:

AO 17: Wawa was playing at prime level at his favorite slam AO. you know the same wawa that thrashed the living daylights outta your boy Nadal in AO 14 :-D

Ah, thanks for qualifying it. "For a 35.5 year old guy."

Now go kick rocks, kiddo :);)

Its moderately tough for anyone.
Very tough for a 35.5 year old.

arguably toughest draw in a slam win after AO 14. (Wim 14, RG 15, Wim 18 only other contendors).

Contrast to nadal needing weak draws to win both USO 17, USO 19, especially USO 17 which was worst or 2nd worst in this century (AO 03 the other)

Now again,

imagine if AO 17 fed met this AO 22 nadal (similar ages). fed'd make it a bloodbath. AO 17 nadal was actually playing good (though past his prime) unlike now.

go and cry over that, perennially butthurt kiddo :)

What makes this match interesting is I feel anything could happen. Pretty much all the variables are possible.
I am going with Medvedev in four. I think it's too good a fairytale for Nadal to win.
