see, so overall your PTP experience is same as mine was :) kinda boring string. However in ezone Dr I had a positive experience. Maybe nowadays, stiffer ezones dont like PTP that much... Many users seems to like solinco confidential and this one after 6 hours of playing turns more powerful. Perhaps you might like it then. But it is a as well a control oriented string as well..low powered.

Vcore Pro is a tricky racquet. I was really expecting something totally different. It is supposed to be a bit like yonex attempt of prestige line but the feel was very mleeeeeh. Kinda boardy, dead... On the other hand Vcore Pro HD 18x20 is definitely better in feel. Same with Vcore Pro 330g version. Just the Vcore Pro 310g was very disappointing (compared to Angell TC95 and Prestige MP 360+ that are feel oriented frames). I will put the blame on lower weight maybe...

I tried Ice Code (here) but I prefer Red Code (here) . More confidence and connected feel. Ice Code is slightly too powerful for me maybe... I heard Razor Code is their most control oriented round string so I will try it soon.

Head Hawk Touch is on my maybe list. It's quite expensive where I live but of course I heard very good opinions. But we are entering Alu Power area of prices... BTW maybe you should try Alu Power Ice Blue ? I don't know but for some reason I prefer the blue version...a bit softer perhaps...maybe a tad more responsive. Suits my Tourna Overgrips hah ! Blue is the color !
I use wilson shock shield grio that’s similar in weight to a leather grip to tail weight all my racquets and to add more overall mass for this reason. So after my intial hit with head hawk touch, the magic faded…it is not worth the cost. Luxilon element however, has emerged as a front runner with good feel and comfort but I realized that I still prefer shaped mains/round cross hybrids for easier access to spin wi5 slower swing speeds in the denser pattern of my vcp97 310

So I won a tournament using Mayami Big Spin 1.25. Hard to miss with this string. Forgiving, low powered and spin friendly. Good combination for a defensive baseliners. I might try a hybrid with mayami tour hex as its supposed to give a bit more power and 6-sided shape can perhaps give a bit more linear feel and more control at net.

At some point during finals the guy was inviting me to the net and I was making many unforced errors on volleys. Very weird as I often coach at the net so volleys should be more solid. I had no issues with volleys when the string was fresh. Maybe just tired after so many matches... but I experienced it as well with 1.30 Big Spin... Mleh. I have no idea ;p

Anyway it is time to celebrate !

Verdasco seems to follow my thread as he is now testing another string :) It looks a bit blue ? Mayami Tour Hex ? :p Or maybe it's the light playing with the grey colored Head Lynx Tour 1.30 ?

I love his game. His vibes are talking to me ;p Hopefully he can find the form from the past !

If you are reading this - good luck Fernando ! :)

Since there are so many experiences here, I would be interested in the following .

How would you rank Lynx Tour, Solinco Confidential, Tourna Silver7, RPM Blast in terms of:
1. power (high to low):
2. spin (high to low):
3. control (high to low):

All subjective, of course...

I havent tried RPM Blast, just RPM blast rough but didnt like it.

Power: (all are very low powered): Confidential (especially after 6 hours of playing) >Tourna Silver 7 (because it has that little boost sometimes in power which is kinda weird but cool at the same time)> Lynx Tour (stays kinda dead for a very long time)

Spin: Tourna Silver 7 > Confidential = Lynx Tour (Confidential and Lynx Tour were a bit hard to judge)

Control (again very close and depends if fresh or after some playing): Confidential> Lynx > Tourna Silver 7 ??? ...

maan its tough. Why ? Because Tourna Silver 7 is extremely control oriented but that small boost ability can be experienced as lack of control. Confidential when fresh is very good but after 6 hours it turns into rocket launcher a bit, Lynx Tour has longest playability duration but is a bit heavier than the others so this makes it a bit harder to spin the ball...

I would say those strings at the end are the perfect examples of control oriented strings with above average spin potential. It's almost if you asked who is better Nadal or Djokovic :)

I think overall the best value goes to Tourna Silver 7 Tour ! On hard courts I enjoyed them all but on clay where I am already testing once again my favourite setups my perception of the strings is slightly changing.

i want to know what string Yoshi Nishioka is using, it must be great for him to be playing so well with it
he is alright xd probably some kind of Yonex string. I don't care much ;p He is a nice guy, seem to be very humble. He has own youtube channel but doesnt speak english.

Poly tour pro seems to be a polarizing string. Some love it, some hate it. Just trying it out for the first time and kind of liking it personally.

exactly like I described it :) love/hate relationship string.. IMO there are better options. Make sense only if you are sponsored yonex player and have them heavily discounted. Just my opinion...

I liked it briefly when fresh but it quickly turned to mush and lost all feel...

Surprisingly because it feels like it’s average in everything. I had a good 6-7 hours out of it. I liked the feel/pocketing and low power.

That’s the other thing. It can be had for very cheap so it’s easy to keep it fresh on the racquet. Like 75$ reel cheap.

Poly Tour Spin 1.25

This string is really not for me. Makes sense why there is not so many pro endorsements with it. I think the most exciting one is with Ruud as hybrid with PTP? In hybrid this could be much better to really open up the sweet spot and potential. I would string it lower than your usual setup.
Boardy, spin is really average. Price is better with Volkl Cyclone. I was a bit disappointed.. Yonex, maybe time to focus just on your really high quality and good looking racquets? :)

I am not a fan of just repeating stuff, but have to agree here. I have tried very many strings (and racquets jaja) and always try to see something positive in it even when it is not for me. And I was coming, many years ago, from using two reels of the PTP, and when i tried the spin after friends telling me how much spin and so forth with kind of hype, bum, so disappointed. Nothing good, for me, and additionally it was VERY stiff. Do not like it.

any new main string setups ? So you are using Speed MP now ? I really liked Speed Pro. Amazing racquet. I don't know why MP has stiffer index. It could be 62 like Pro.

Hi, am with the speed MP now (339 mould) and very happy. The MP is very comfortable too even though RA value might be higher. But I got one 360+ measured and it was RA61.
Actually not playing with Super Tour 1.30 as main string. My thinking or approach with the TC95, where I wanted to control more, lower the launch angel does not work for me in the Speed. I can control with lower gauge, very spin oriented strings. And I avoid a couple of points of SW. So I am now with Hyper G 1.20 as it works but it is not my favourite feel wise but need to finish the sets I have jaja.
Actually, back to Prince xt18, problem is that it is very difficult to find as Prince does not produce / sell it anymore.
So comfortable, thin gauges. Durability is not key for me in polis.

Having said that, I came across a IsoSpeed Cream 1.28 and it surprised me very positively, soft but not mushy, very very decent spin, seams much thinner than 1.28 and i loved the feel. Will try more FB and some hybrids with xt18 maybe... so many strings my friend.

if you are used to round profiles and you seek comfort. I highly recommend Signum Pro Firestorm. You can even try 1.25 if you want to keep the SW lower. My ex coach who is now working 8-10 hours a day had some wrist issues, i told him to try signum firestorm and he is cured :) I enjoyed the performance a lot too.

also, maybe Mayami Big Spin 1.25. It is kinda for the Hyper G fans in terms of performance but totally different feel. Closer to Alu Power some say. It's very comfy and mainly spin oriented.

I noticed you gave Solinco Hyper G a rather average 6.3 rating, but among TW play testers it's apparently the GOAT string with a whopping 7 out of 13 selecting it as their #1 string of choice and another three who have it in their top 3 (77% total). Is there a reason TW play testers are so in love with this string?... are they on the Solinco dole? (haha, jk). I hate the lime-green color but I may have to try it.

this question wasnt meant for me, but just my 2 cents: hyperG to me feels like gut with added free spin. i tried it in a pure drive and it was just way too much untamed power, but it may be good in a flexy 18x20 frame. not at the top of my list to try but eventually i will.

Thanks for the input. I use a PD Tour+ and 'untamed power' in a string is the last thing I'm looking for. I still may try it just to see if it lives up to the hype.

I don't think Hyper G is high powered at all. I have tried several variations of it and wasn't overly impressed until I tried Hyper G Soft. I've had elbow issues and the normal Hyper G felt a tad stiff to me. HGS has given me a lot of control and really good spin. I really want to get a reel now but I have several reels that I'm still going thru

I gave rather average rating but if you read my review i say that this string might be your thing. Its very personal and i dont like the feel. If you are older TT member you might seen Andy Gerst playtester and he prefers solinco tour bite and confidential. Hyper g is a bit weird. A bit disconnected. BUT sometimes you dont need feel. Sometimes you Just want to close your eyes and hit a winner :p hyper g is a bit for those players. Over time i loose confidence with it.

I wouldnt say its high powered either. But for some reason i make more mistakes with it.. i hate the color too :p

i have some friends with angell and they all hated hyper g in their frames. My ex coach Who is working with top 10 juniors in the country tested hyper g and absolutely hated it. Same with the juniors. I think that the more old school the frame the more you gonna hate hyper g. The more „modern” and powerful the more suitable hyper g is.

HG is not a high powered string but for those that use it in a power racquet like the pure drive, that may be why it feels powerful. It is not the deadest string like BBO/4G but not the most powerful either.

Solstice Power Black 17g has been a favorite of mine lately. Softer than Solinco Tour Bite and much more spin. Downside is durability as it starts losing it’s shape after 6-7 hours for me.

I’m trying Mayami Tour Hex. I do have pretty good control with it. Other strings have easier spin.

This string is horrible. Makes sense why I see nobody with it, even within Yonex representatives (they are mostly using PTP or Poly Tour Strike).
Boardy, spin is really average. Price is better with Volkl Cyclone. Probably my biggest disappointment so far. Definitely not recommended. Yonex, maybe time to focus just on racquets? Or really do your homework just like Head did with their recent releases.

rating: 5.0 which makes it the worst string in the lineup.

i remeber trying this string long time ago. it was very good for spin with decent power. but control wasn't that great, had some issues with ball flying off the string bed with too much trampoline effect

i was shooting slightly long too. It gets slightly better over time but really not worth it when you compare to some other round strings. Alu Power, Hit Pro, Original, Firestorm, Red Code....the choice is big and all of them are better than PTP.

msv focus hex and hepta twist are really great strings for the price !! A lot of coaches are playing with it and switched from Signum Pro Tornado (cheaper but similar performance). My fellow coaches in the academy ended up with Head Lynx Tour but they have amazing discounts on that string so who knows if they would jump over with the full price. Probably not but they like the string a lot.

what about that Berrentini string ? is that any good ?
it is on a softer side and some may say it has a bit of that trampoline effect but its very control oriented and classic. 3 of my sparing partners switched to it after i showed them :)

Its crazy cheap especially if you are a coach or a player, its very comfy for your elbow and wrist, great spin potential for a round string. Its a must try IMO.
Frames of my sparing partners who switched to firestorm:
- Head Graphene 360+ Prestige MP
- Dunlop CX200 tour 18x20 customized
- Angell TC97 16x19

as you can see the frames are kinda classic as well so maybe a good match. I am not sure if I would put it in a power type of racquet :p Berrettini seems to like it :)
