Nadal is playing well. Movements and serve much more fluid than in the previous matches. Cachin is not a big test, but I am quite impressed

Ideal sparring match for Nadal. Cachin has not enough firepower so Rafa picks his moments

Nadal looks better than in 2015.
Possible but at least 2015 he lost to big names.

MC Djokovic, Madrid Murray, Rome Wawrinka and RG Djokovic. All were top 5 players on that year on clay, all making RG semis.

Currently Nadal has faced 1 top 10 player who is barely top 10 on clay.

Yeah, you're right. Let's wait and see...
I was merely pointing out it looks like the second worst Nadal ever :)

... which of course still means he is better than most of the field on clay!

2015 Nadal was easily top 5 player on clay.

This year the best five till now are tsitsipas ruud sinner djokovic and maybe with Alcaraz quickly coming back to his top spot. Then there is dangerous lurker like Zverev.

Is Nadal going to beat these guys at Roland Garros? 2015 he reached qf and other qfs were Djokovic Wawrinka Federer Murray Nishikori Tsonga and Ferrer.

I think Nadal would beat Nishikori Murray Tsonga but Djokovic Wawrinka Federer and Ferrer would be difficult.

Rafa doesn’t look all that great to me yet, but the scoreline is of course all that matters at this point. He’s still revving up of course.
Agree. Cachin isn’t much of a challenge. But Nadal is doing what he should, improving a match at a time. Still to be determined if he can deal with a truly strong competition over many hours.

When did you turn on?. He done the work mostly earlier in the set.

Sinner vs Nadal will be dream match and a true test for both the players to gauge their true level. May the best son wins

Btw Madrid 2015 Nadal reached the final without losing a single set. But in the final he lost to Murray in straight sets.

He also won Buenos Aires 250 and Hamburg 500 outside of European clay swing.

busted. you've been caught red-handed vive. don't tell us you're not watching now
if we discount the highlights of the most brutal denadalizations (that i watch on a regular basis based on a therapeutic recommendation for the sake of what remains of my mental health), i saw 1 match of the nadal (live on TV) in the past 15 years.
(somebody twisted my arm back then... but i won't make the same mistake twice!)

What is your top match ? Doha 2016?

Not true at all. Struff makes it work often, Eubanks also at times (including against Medvedev in Wimbledon).

You "just" have to have an elite serve and pick your moments.

Med is not a good grass player ffs and not an elite baseliner like Rafa or even Sinner or Carlos . If SNV worked Fed would have snved more against Djokodal in his days instead of reducing it . It's a baseliner era.

Nadal in 2015 had the worst results on clay in his full career between 2005 to 2022. But for normal people, these results may be highlights of their career.

Overall, 26 Wins and 6 L.
Big tournaments 13 Wins and 4 L.
Overall Titles and Finals 2 Titles
Big titles and Finals 2 Wins and 1 Final
Big Finals 1 Final (Madrid)

Best Win vs David Ferrer in Monte Carlo 6-4 5-7 6-2
