Well no kidding. It's taking Berrettini playing as well as he possibly can to just barely squeak out a set against a very sloppy Djokovic.Smart money still on Novak
Novak’s form just isn’t up to scratch this tournament....still manages to eke it out thanks to a miss by Novak.
It looks like Djokovic just woke up from a nap, but I expect him to be fully awake in set 2. Hold on to your hats.
Mark this post, too lazy to create a thread:
-Djokovic will have the scare of the tournament here.
-Djokovic will win (I actually want to say Matteo would but I trust Djokovic's ability to accept and solve a surprising situation and Matteo's ability to choke. )
Djokovic ain't ready for Berretini this time. His shot tolerance is not exactly what it used to be.He has lost sets due to rust. And Berretini has faced him enough this year to come up with some surprise. I have a feeling Djokovic is a little more focused on SF-F and underestimating Berretini.
Meanwhile Matteo must be inspired to do better against him this time.
He’ll win this but yeah there’s almost no chance against Zverev and then Medvedev at this point. Pretty shocking, tbh, but he’s always shaky at the USO I suppose. That may be all she wrote. Djoker needed to get this done in straight sets to have a shot. Not be in a dogfight and his level just isn't there
I'm just saying there's too much doomsdaying on Novak rnWell no kidding. It's taking Berrettini playing as well as he possibly can to just barely squeak out a set against a very sloppy Djokovic.
Long way to go.
It's soooooooo weird to see Djokovic miss sitters especially on important points.
The Italian takes the first set. Well deserved. Too many errors from Novak especially on the FH side.

I’m not confident to be honest. The form just isn’t there but he will fight to the end despite that.Djokovic didn't deserve that set after that level of play. He needs to find his gears right about now.
Novak has been coming from behind all year. Even lost the first set to Nadal at RG. But he might run out of steam here with the draw he has.
And really I guess it has to catch up to him eventually.
After the way he won the French, I’m not writing any death sentences for Novak. He can still win this tournament. He has the game and the physical reserves, it’s all about handling the pressure mentally. He’ll win this but yeah there’s almost no chance against Zverev and then Medvedev at this point. Pretty shocking, tbh, but he’s always shaky at the USO I suppose.
It may work for him for now, but this will end soon. At some point, you will lose more often when you go down a set or two.Novak has been coming from behind all year. Even lost the first set to Nadal at RG. But he might run out of steam here with the draw he has.
And really I guess it has to catch up to him eventually.

I don’t know off the top of my head the # of sets lost, but I’m pretty sure it’s Edberg in the 92 USO.Serious question
Does anyone know what the record is for most sets dropped in a major they won?
If novak gets down two sets i think he’s finito even against this mug.
Hahah I was waiting for you to make an appearance
