Seriously, could Zverev possibly get any more pathetic? I really wish someone on tour (like Medvedev) would stop being coy about it, and just get all up in Zverev's face after a win.
I'd love to see Med give the beat down on Zedrot. They're both 6'6 and Meddy isn't the most muscular guy out there. I think I'm putting my money on Stan. Even old Stanimal would destroy Zverev in about 7 seconds. Two punches and it's lights out. Tatted out GF can film herself on Insta and enhance her "influencer" aura.

I'm watching T2 for the first time. Whatever this show is with three commentators just hanging out in the studio and providing actual commentary, shooting the sh*t, and gossiping a bit, and jumping around to different tournaments - is both terrible in a way, and actually pretty entertaining in a way. Lol. If Nick Monroe is gay and lives and/or hangs out in West Hollywood, this other dude - Chivezer - really seems to want to joke about it (in a friendly way) as he's mentioned West Hollywood and Nick hanging out there no less than three times. This is so random and it's making me laugh. I always enjoy Goodall.

Another event where the female commentator had racket information.
Said that Stefanos was testing a new stick but is back to his normal racket. She loves racket talk.
Do you know who the commentator is?

Oh, I'm sure Stan would handle him with no problems at all. I think there are plenty of guys that could, but I just mentioned Medvedev because I know they don't like one another.

Tiafoe still can't put two matches together (except Delray Beach). He gutted out the second set, which he easily could have lost, only to lose 6-1 in the third. Blech. I guess the "upside" is he hasn't lost any first round matches this year. Lol.

Nah, I'm so tired of this nonsense. I'm a Tiafoe supporter, but this crap is so frustrating to watch. Why is he even entering these events? Just take a couple of weeks off, Francis, and sort your sh-t out already.

Flip side, there's only so much to sort out off-court. You could be totally right, and maybe he needs time off. But that's not a certainty - he has to learn how to win at a higher level again on tour, and you can't replicate those conditions off court. Though if he's completely frazzled and not into playing, then I break could be warranted. It's tough to know.

No way can Tiafoe take time off when IW begins next week. As an American, this is the second biggest event of the year after the USO on his home soil.

Why any man let alone a top tier athlete would settle for a woman with some stupid tattoo is beyond me.

Better watch out for the virtue signalling drones. One of them had a hissy fit because I called a chair umpire fat yesterday. "Fat shaming" is up there with "tat shaming" as utterly forbidden.

Tsits damn well better hold serve now so Dane brat can take the court.

Wait, what? Did you even see the Evans match? His slice wasn't the problem. And if you can't understand that it still has a place in the modern game, that's your problem.

Isn't that the truth.
Slice sure has a place in the modern game but Not in place of a weak backhand. You cannot win against the top players on a slice. The same reason Lopez couldn't do much against Fed/Nadal.
Medvedev did do all that against Zverev in MC. Check that out in the breakpoint Netflix series.

I also feel De Minaur taking this one...
Tsitsipas played horribly last round, choked at love when serving for the match and showed a total lack of confidence throughout. Demon should beat him comfortably.

I'm hoping for a Rune-Shelton semi.

The three highest-ranked players who have not won a 500-level title are Rune, Ruud, and Tsitsipas. All three are in the QFs in Acapulco. Decent chance one of them will change that this week, though De Minaur might well be title favorite.

(Yes, I know that Tsitsipas and Rune have both won 1000s, and Tsitsipas has won the Tour Finals. But neither has won a 500. Nor for that matter has anyone left in the draw other than De Minaur and Shelton - Shelton's only tour title).

How do you rate Shelton's chances against Ruud?

Haven't seen Casper play this week, so I don't know. I watched Shelton beat Evans but couldn't see him last night because he was playing at the same time Holger was playing on stadium court. Ben looked pretty erratic against Evans and his serve was not popping like usual.

Ruud is slight favorite with the bookies, but not by much. That seems right to me. Shelton has a good chance if he serves well, especially as Ruud doesn't have a great return. But if Ruud does get into a decent number of rallies, he should probably win.

The bookies have Rune as slight favorite for the title, but they think it's pretty open.

I'd love to see that, but doubt it. The bookies had Rune as the heavy favorite in the Brisbane final, but Dimi won that in straights. Demon has more confidence and is in better form than Rune right now, but let's wait to see how the draw pans out. Rune can lose to anyone considering his erratic pattern of play for the last 7 months.

Per the bookies, Rune is only slightly more likely than De Minaur to win the title - and I think that's partly because De Minaur faces Tsitsipas next (the bookies tend to take difficulty of draw into account quite a bit). If the final were De Minaur v Rune, then given the current odds, I think the bookies would have them more or less equal, with De Minaur perhaps slight favorite. I agree with you that De Minaur is the form player.

I’m hyped for Ruud-Shelton. That was Ben’s first real big win, the first announcement to the world that he was a force to be reckoned with, in Cincy. Ruud has just come off a lost final in Cabo, he’ll want this one. Hope for a great match, and of course Rune is a pretty damn intriguing prelude as well. Acapulco clears Dubai by so much it’s unreal. Such a superior tournament.

Wow! I tune into Tsits-Demon and pretty boy is putting down the hammer after playing like garbage last night. I really assumed Demon was going to defend his title. Still think Aussie Mustache will storm back.

Oh, I was strictly talking about a mental break. It seems like he is having troubling focusing, and locking in 100%. And I don't really blame him. Small crowds at small events, with not much to play for, it's probably hard for most guys, and he seems more dependent on crowd energy and a big spotlight than most players.

So yeah, I think he just needs some time to relax, not think about tennis, and get that hunger back. Going out and losing matches lifelessly, like he is now, is doing nothing for his long term success.

I agree, now isn't the time. The time would have been a few weeks ago, where he could easily have skipped Dallas, Del Ray Beach, Los Cobos, Acapulco, or any combination therein.

Now he does indeed need to play IW and Miami, but then he should consider a break and skipping the first few clay events. I don't think he played Monte Carlo last year either.

I'm hoping for a Rune-Shelton semi.
Have they played one another yet? I'd actually love to see that as well (of course with Shelton blowing the Brat away, and making Brat's head explode because Shelton is another young gun).

I don't think he will pull through, Demons got this (probably). I don't care for either guy, but Demon's at least understated and not a narcissist.
You really get narcissist vibes from Tsitsipas? I don't, at all. I honestly don't get a lot of the hate that he seems to receive. I just see him as what we call a "space cadet." He's a little goofy, but I think he means well. I also think growing up on the tour didn't help him, and he needs to mature some more.

People like to complain about his backhand as well, but he's doing damage with it tonight. Really whipping the racquet and getting some big spin that is throwing the Demon off.

I mostly get mug vibes.

Man, how hard he has fallen...

Used to be the next big thing, an inch away from slams... I mean the guy used to own Sinner, and now even DemiMug has turned the tide on him.

And yes, the BH is a huge liability. Whether we like it or not, in today's game, all 1HBHs are - and the Philosopher's is especially shaky. Heck even Roger, the greatest 1HBH of all time, said he'd teach his kid a two-hander...

I appreciate your nostalgic stance, but it is what it is.

Pretty sure Mark Twain is dead too ;)
We'll have to see how it goes. Mac came out nowhere; then Becker / Eddy / Sampras / Fred.

There will be another great one-hander, despite the prevailing, dismal consensus. I think we
might agree that the present *construct* of court speed / racquet tech / strings / coaching / other stuff all favor the 2-hander. Those are all (at least theoretically) changeable.

Anyone posting 5,000 Insta pics per month of he and his GF is a born narcissist. Anyone starting their own Insta page with his own handle with Badosa with 5,000 pool photos, bikini pics and endless protestations of "endless love" is the very personification of narcissism. The plagiarism and faux "philosophy" posts are also the epitome of narcissism.

Anyway, zero interest in pursuing this topic since my Dane Prince is ON DA COURT! :)

Bit of trivia (which will interest no one).... throughout his entire juniors career and pro career, whenever Holger won the toss he elected to receive 100% of the time. In Acapulco, he's won the toss in all three of his matches and he has elected to serve. Interesting change of tactics.

..who is clearly, clearly Not a Narcissist.

yeesh.
Were we discussing Dane Prince's narcissism? Must have all those who are currently doing that on ignore and missed it.

Thought it was Tsitipas we were discussing. Different guys, different countries, different everything. For instance-

Holger has no hair beneath his eyebrows, Tsits has a beard and hairy chest. Huge difference right there. :D

Tsitsipas is going the way of Baghdatis since that AO final last year. A complete and utter bottoming out. His career hangs in the balance.
ADM has been playing like a top 5ish player this year and has made me a lot of money. But you’re right about Stefanos. Even though ADM had been beaten up so many times by the Greek philosopher, and took a beating in the first set, he still had a lot of confidence in that second set when he turned the match around, and a lot of it had to do with the lack of confidence that the Greek philosopher showed.

The way Draper has handled his draw so far gives me a little hope that he might spring an upset against De Minaur.

Massive win for De Minaur though over Tsitsipas. Alex had lost all 10 of their matches including the Los Cabos final in August.

Huge comeback after a first set breadstick. Defending champ Alex now on a 8 match winning streak in Acapulco.

Ben v Casper is good match, great match last night Ben had with Arnaldi too. Really interested to see how good Ben can get, unreal that as a freshman he played #5 on Florida. Talk about coming out of nowhere.
