I was a little surprised by that comment. That first set was long but after that it was pretty much not a physical match.

Yeah but remember emotional exhaustion can cause physical exhaustion. Roger wanted this badly considering he was playing his biggest rival on his grass kingdom.

going by form and how Fed played Semis, I say 70-30 in favor of Fed. Djokovic needs to bring his A game and not have any lapses to push this to 5 an d hope fed gets gassed out

Tell me the last time roger won 61 percent on second serves against nadal? Never seen that before also he didn’t have 40 plus UEs. Played very steady against nadal.

He won’t do that against Djokovic I don’t think. Also got 68% first serves in today, which if he does that against Djokovic that’s the clear path to victory.

Djokovic always seems to be able to raise his level against Federer which is kind of annoying and particularly in finals. There is only 1 final I have seen where Djokovic played below his level which was Wimbledon 2013.

Well if he doesn’t win a lot of points on his second serve than he will lose. That his been the story in their last two wimbledon finals matchup. He can’t have loose points on serve as well.

Fed won't win in 5. It could be 4, most likely if he does it will be. But I just have this big feeling that Djokovic is going to play terribly, so much worse than 2015. I think Fed has to, has to be due a win, surely? Surely he can't lose 5 in a row overall, and 5 consecutive slam matches, with 4 of those finals since the racket change. Surely Djokovic HAS to finally surrender that Big 4 slam winning streak. I usually always talk with my head rather than heart and try to be objective, but everything tells me it'll be #9.

I'd be lying if I said I'm not over analyzing the final this Sunday. But as a Fed fan I've gotta step back and enjoy what happened today. Beating the man who dethroned him at Wimbledon 11 years ago, the man who possibly denied Fed multiple French Open wins. Today's win was huge!

I think Federer can win a set, but Djokovic has become so strong on the biggest stages again so if I had to bet, I would bet on him.

Dream final anyway. I was hoping for this when the tournament started.

I am stunned Fed got by Rafa.

If Fed ups his 1st serve, and has the stamina....

I am a Jokovic fan, and then Fed fan, but come on, what's with putting down the old man? This is Wimbledon and he is Federer! There will be a fight.

Yess u r rite..
Fed has equal chances to beat Novak .
Crowd will be against Novak too.
I hope Novak finds the courage to pull this off .

I want to believe but my head says novak in 4 the conditions just suit him better and fed will have to be A+ to beat him and he has had a mental block for a while

If you think Djokovic will play terribly then I'm afraid you will be very disappointed.

If Novak wins the 1st or 2nd set, he will win the 7th round.
If Federer wins both 1st and 2nd set, he will very likely win.

3rd time they will meet in a Wimbledon final with the scoreline currently 2-0 for Djokovic. Will it be a case of 3rd time lucky for Roger or will Novak just inflict another humiliation on him?

I feel the pressure is all on Federer!

I think Federer has a real chance.
1) Novak not at his peak
2) recent close encounters. Federer in average form almost beat Novak at Paris 2018
3) Federer hitting his forehand well

Federer doesn’t beat Novak through consistency but by serving well and dictating play with his forehand. Without it he’s helpless in all baseline rallies

Djokovic has played literally no one (okay, figuratively no one) to reach the final. He hasn't really impressed since the AO and has just been feasting off the terrible state of the tour. Federer meanwhile is in Nadal-beating form which every time in his career up until now has meant he wins the tournament, so on paper Fed should be able to win this.

Unfortunately the script has been written here. Djok lives with a chip on his shoulder and really hates losing to Fedal, so he's guaranteed to give it 110% on Sunday. If Novak plays to form he's going home but he won't. It will be the best possible Novak on Sunday.
If Djokovic has been feasting off the terrible state of the tour then so too has Federer.

Everyone has a chance until the fat lady starts singing.

1) Is Federer at his peak?
2) Are any of those close encounters at a slam? Djokovic is a different animal in slams these days.
3) Wasn't he hitting his FH well in 2014/2015?

Djokovic ability to step up and peak in slam finals has been sensational of late. I hope the same happens here! With Federer across the net, that will inspire Novak more, if Novak wins he will have 16 slams and be only 4 behind fed! That will be the closest he’s ever been in the slam race to feds top record! Huge match for both!

That's the biggest plus I see. When ever crowd is up against him, he amps it up. He focuses a lot more than usual. Djok definitely needs to bring his A game. My only worry is Djok is not battle hardened. And Fed is no pushover in grass even at 37.

This guy never ceases to amaze me!

Everytime these two meet Federer comes up small in the big points. He doesn’t win enough points on his second serve. I hope to see something different on Sunday but won’t be shock if roger gets tight in the big points.

SO, it's #1 vs #2 in final. Why did people complain so much about grass ranking? It seems pretty accurate to me.
And I actually think RG should do the same. (= have a clay ranking/seeding system)
Djoko: remember Cincy final but don't underestimate Grasserer! Sending lots of good vibes your way and hoping for another classic. Ajde (y)
Unbelievable how the big 3 are still running the show. I should be used to it by now but I'm still in awe. Good on Thiem to steal one final.

Oh and BTW, I think we can bury that "grass playing like clay" nonsense now because if it had played anything like clay, Nadal would be in the final. I know it, you know it and everyone knows it ;)
(I actually think the bounce is super low this year)

The way I see it,the men's and women's finals both come down to the same thing: can the oldies Williams and Federer keep the majority of the points short? Fail to do this and they will both lose IMO. Obviously this is going to much more difficult for Federer, with Djokovic having the best return game in history probably and a very good serve as well. Just feel Djokovic in 4 again unfortunately,he's just dialled in in GS finals and near impossible to break down even for the great man Federer...
