It's been the biggest problem when having to hit a backhand from a deep ball close to the baseline. Rublev doing so good in cc bh department today translates to ton of errors from Novak on that side.
Yea Rublev has been great all around today and Djokovic's backhand has been leaking many errors because of that footwork. The serve and setting up shots with it, has kept him in it. In neutral baseline battles, he's getting hammered.

It doesn't look like the tide has turned to me. At least not yet. Rublev is still serving a high percentage and much more cleaner off the ground, while being aggressive.
Well I’ll admit it looks a little less so now. There were a few games in the middle of the set where Novak was holding easily while threatening to break – four break points across two return games.

Now they’re both holding easily, but even so, in a who-blinks-first shoot-out, I’ll take Novak over Rublev 9 times out of 10. We’ll see who takes this tiebreak.

What a TB from Djokovic. Serving lights out and smacking returns. That return winner was one of the best returns I have seen. Completely took the racket out of Rublevs hands.

Rublev had his chances but couldn't focus enough on the big points. Expect Djokovic to come through now in the decider.

He’s a Nadal fan. He’s anti jinxing like crazy. He making out like rublev doesn’t even win points against Novak. Rublev has beat him before and took sets off him more than most players in the game.
I agree I'm a Nadal fan but I'm rooting for Djokovic here .. I don't consider Rublev a high level threat to top players... On a side note , I always root against Rublev ;)

I thought Sampras was the greatest tiebreak player I had ever seen, then came Federer who rivaled and probably surpassed him, and then came Djokovic...

I don't know if this is some anti jinx but Rublev is clearly the better player today. Djokovic is holding on with his serve.
I'm not anti jinxing Djokovic... I'm rooting for him here but I'm no fan so I can clearly see Djokovic pulling this easily

I don't like Rublev too !

Ok I guess your dislike of Rublev was the reason why but he has really outplayed Djokovic for a large portion of this match. Then, Djokovic plays an amazing tiebreak out of nowhere.

I never objected to Rublev outplaying Djokovic for the most part , I only object to the idea that he can pull out a victory against Djokovic

Djoko never fails to amaze me these days.
Level at a set apiece again, at 36.5 years of age, in a match / tournament where he has looked vulnerable throughout

Aura and mental strength really do go a long way

That's when he's at his most vulnerable

Wow, another huge hold from Rublev. Hanging on by the skin of his teeth. Novak’s been in charge from early in the second, but Andrey’s done well to keep things so even.
