It's amazing how much Novak's baseline game has declined in the last year or so. Losing almost all longer rallies. Nowhere near his prime. At least 50% worse..
That's what happens when you stop playing for too long. Anyways, he said it's a price he's willing to pay.

We may be witnessing historical match. Perhaps Novak's last GS match if he loses today. No USO this year for him and probably no AO next year because he is too proud to go there after this year's torture. So in 2023 at 36 he may go to RG but I doubt it. After so many missed GS tournaments he may just decide that it is over with tennis.

I thought Australia dropped the entry requirements the other day. If he can play there and I think he definitely should be allowed, then he'll be there. Hopefully the US becomes more reasonable but with the current regime, I doubt it.

Rafa doesn't care about noise surrounding other players injuries, he has a killer instinct

So why didn't he wreck Fritz at Indian Wells?

It's not that Rafa cares about others' injuries, it's that he needs to control as much of the environment as he can.

That starts with controlling the narrative ahead of the match. He likes to keep expectations low, to get in his opponent's head, and to have an excuse ready if he does lose.
