Barty is a major winner and she’s this nervous?

Nervy players often stay that way no matter if they overcome it on occasion and win a major. Novatna never lost her nerves - she blew a lead to Hingis at the USO the very same year she finally won Wimbledon. Mauresmo, Stosur, Sabatini - more examples of players who won majors but were still nervy at times.

Definitely Kenin. I haven’t seen her get a challenge right in 2 matches now and she exhausted all of them last match

Barty's BH looks in need of improvement. Either that or she likes her slice way too much. Too many slices often gets Barty in trouble.

Is it just me or are we seeing a lot of defensive forehand slices/squash shots at the AO? It's a great thing to have and makes more sense than trying to hit a normal forehand if it's that far out of reach.

Thought Kenin might have a decent shot at getting the win here. Kenin is pretty solid and I felt she'd be able to stick with Barty in most of these points without too many headaches..but I dunno.

Barty overall played better that set, but it just goes to show getting the important points is ultimately what matters. Kenin is just so tenacious and does not give up.

Sloppy first set. Lots of nerves and errors from both, though a few nice shots sprinkled here and there. Hoping the quality will get better.

Her slice is ok and I'm sure its more effective against some players but not all. Some players just hate slice.

Have you watched any of Kenin's matches? She's playing poorly as well. We'll see who starts playing well first. That will determine the ultimate outcome, I think. I'm not watching the ESPN Evert coverage. Is it that bad? Funny, as she was completely dogging Kenin when she played Coco. I can't stand Evert in the commentary booth.
