Actually she deserved all the flak she got considering she is the one who started this awful grunting trend. Heck she deserved a lot more than she got. All this is her fault basically.

She didn't force anyone to do it. It's the fault of every individual person who does it. Plus, she's the one who got flak, was sent the message "this isn't okay", criticized by commentators, so if anything her experience would have been a reason for players not to do it.

Bollettieri's academy should share the blame for not discouraging this from Seles and their other star students. The WTA and the ITF should have also addressed this trend 25-30 years ago. Especially with junior players. By the time these players get to the pros it's nearly impossible to retrain those ingrained habits.

Wonderful tennis by Garbine to take the 1st set from the most talented player in womens tennis Simona Halep. Caliber of this match is about 10 times higher than the previous one where Barty was so horrendously off form.
